Family Update 073108
This month Daddy traveled to Houston, Fairfield, and Gillette for work. He also traveled to Ruidoso, NM for several days to visit a close family friend with a brain aneurism.
I enjoyed Bunco, coffee, and the “teacher shower” for a friend who just finished her degree and will be teaching in her first classroom this fall.
D started 1st grade and E started Kindergarten. Both are really enjoying the work so far. The home school group Moms met to start planning the year, and it looks to be a lot of fun!
We enjoyed a lot of activities associated with summer. We got to see Independence Day fireworks at church one night, and in town the next with cousins C, S, and S. We’ve been to the pool, the wading pool, the water park, and the baby pool, sprinklers, and slip ‘n’ slide in our own back yard.
Gymnastics class, fiddle practice and lessons, serving at the Salvation Army, and handing out food at the Closet of Hope were part of our regular activities. The kids also loved going to a bowling birthday party, having a play date with a friend, and getting to see the movie WALL-E.
E got to go to Art Camp at the DC from 9-12 every day for a week, which she loved. Art is one of her gifts, and the class was her reward for entertaining herself during D’s fiddle practice time and lessons (one of his gifts) over the last year. The class was very well done and they got to make and do a lot of different things. While E was in class D and I did school on the grounds outside, which was a fun change of pace. At the end of the last day of class the students had an “art show” where all the art work was displayed for family to see. Then I took the kids to the Art Museum to see the latest exhibit, which was the most kid-friendly one yet.
D lost his 2nd front tooth and the first new one is almost in. He started swimming well enough that he got to jump off the diving board, which was quite an accomplishment! He learned to play Ashokan Farewell, a beautiful fiddle tune. E was inspired by her art class and painted every chance she got! She is swimming very well but was perfectly happy chatting with the life guard at the baby pool while I was watching D on the diving board. She makes a new friend wherever we go!
