There have been three milestones which have been of no interest to Emily -- riding a bike without training wheels, whistling, and snapping her fingers. I knew she could have done any of those things at least a year ago, but decided not to push her. (After all, I taught myself to whistle out -- I learned to whistle in as a child -- while driving the back roads of West Texas when I was 22.)
We've cajoled Emily to practice bike riding a few times, and she has worked on it on her own a little bit with help from her brother. She's got the basics, but doesn't quite enjoy it yet.
Tonight, while putting up her laundry, she WHISTLED!!!
I told her she only had one thing left to work on, snapping her fingers. I showed her how again -- and she SNAPPED!!
"Mom, I can whistle like real woman and snap like a real woman! I feel like a real lady!!" We giggled and laughed and laughed and giggled.
What a great day!
