Field Trip

We had a great field trip today with some families from our new home school group! It was great to get to know some of the kids and the parents better. We are worn out, in a good way!

I'm a Rock Star

Emily proclaimed that I am a rock star. We've had a fun day, and I guess that is her way of saying so!!

We had our first "stay at home" day in quite awhile -- those rare days when we have no where we have to go and can just do things around the house. We did school (including a meal of beans and cornbread like the Colonial people we are studying, and a colonial craft project), had quiet time, played Chutes and Ladders, had dinner, painted, played Webkinz, read stories, and the kids are sleeping together in Emily's double bed.

Tomorrow we are going on a field trip to the Science Center.

I am content.

Amazing Progress

Gymnastics was awesome tonight!

Emily did a back walkover by herself, first try. She's been working on them for a couple of weeks but tonight it just all came together. She will now be in a class with older girls, which is a great change from the giggling group of girls her own age! I expect her to learn a lot more. The new coach was great, too.

Daniel did a back handspring on the trampoline for the first time. He's never even worked on it before today! I expect he'll be doing it on the floor in no time. Next week he gets to try back flips. He is currently the only kid in his class, with the great coach he's had for some time, so he's basically getting a private lesson.

It was a good day all around, so this was just icing on the cake (which is of course, the best part....)

The Last Time They Saw God

My kids know that God gave them life.

E then interpretted that the last time they saw God was when he put them in their birth mother's belly, and that they would see him again when they died. I'd never quite thought about it that way before.

I wondered if it was a one-time comment, but both kids were talking about it again recently.

I love that they see the world this way.

First Sleepover

The kids had a friend sleep over. Lights out at 8:30, no complaints and just a few giggles.

Maybe I should have let them all sleep together in my bed?? They sure looked cute like this when they came to see me in the morning!

Check it out

If you get the chance, check out my blog link to Patrick Thomas. He is a 5 1/2 year-old boy with Down's Syndrome just brought home from the Ukraine by friends of ours from church. Patrick is now part of a family of 8!

I got to meet Patrick at church today, and the happy tears just started flowing. He is a beautiful child, so happy and sweet and loving. To see him with his mom -- wow. Lots of things take me back to when we adopted D and E from Russia. (Wish I had remembered to use some of my Russian with him!!!)

What a blessing, all the way around!
