I Can Read!

Today is a great milestone day in our family!

E finished her last lesson in "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons." Reading really clicked for her in the last week, and she got motivated enough to do 14 lessons in 3 days. In our family, once you can read (as demonstrated by finishing the book), you can pick out a Bible. E was so excited to chose a red Bible and fuzzy pink carrying case. She started reading it in the car on the way home.

I am smiling all over!!!

And, since I wasn't blogging last year when D reached this milestone, here is his photo, too!

More Shriek

And, D has discovered how easy it can be to say "Boo!" and scare me. So he tries several times a day, some in a more thought through manner than others! He has lost the privilege of trying for awhile because it has gotten so annoying!

Shriek!

Chelle is protecting her kids, and I'm scaring the pants off of mine. They tried to hide from me in the woods yesterday but I snuck up behind them. Then I let them escape to the tree house, where I tried to get in while they barracaded the door with the chairs, table, and desk. I got quiet and let them wonder for awhile. They went on the porch to look for me, and I broke into the house. The shrieking must have been heard for miles! They kept trying to get back in, scaring themselves all the while. It was hysterical!!! Why kids like getting scared and getting tickled is beyond me!

Sniglet

Remember sniglets? Kids are really good at making them up without trying to. E gave us one today. While snuggling in bed this morning, she said something about a "felicopter." We corrected her with helicopter, and she said, "I know. But when it falls out of the sky it is a fellicopter." Makes sense to me!

The Time Has Come

I've waited to share this for fear of speaking too soon, but I think the time has come:

I can finally do kid laundry without having spots on every item.

We still get some grass stains, and paint spots, and the occasional spot of food, but not the every outfit, every day, food dribble marks that have been part of my life for the last 5+ years. It is such a pleasure to throw items in the machine without having to pre-treat them. It makes me smile most times that I am doing laundry, which is generally not cause for happiness -- I'm sure you know what I mean.

For those of you with kids not yet to the age where you can enjoy this, your time will come!!

I like playing games on Webkinz. I started doing it to show the kids when they got their pets, and now I like to play, too!

I Found It!

I recalled a baby photo of D when I wanted to post one on his birthday but couldn't find it. I just did!!! Can you even recognize him????

I love the morning!

E was very chipper this morning. Came out fully dressed, with her bed made, blinds open, and night light off. I think she was excited about her new art class. Whatever the reason, it was nice!

D brought me a bowl of cereal in bed the other morning. It is rare that one of them is up before me. Sweet that was what he thought to do. It also makes me realize how many thing they can actually do.
