Last year was the first time in my life that I recall seeing these "frost flowers" or "ice ribbons," which are formed when sap in the stem freezes and breaks open. I decided to take a photo this year, but it doesn't do it justice. I hope to capture better shots as it happens again! Tuesday, December 14, 2010
